Join us for a webinar about a collaborative approach in auditory verbal therapy/services with Christine JonesMila de Melo and Jane Peters.

Christine Jones, MSc-SLP, Reg. CASLPO, LSLS Cert. AVT is currently working as a Speech-Language Pathologist and Listening and Spoken Language Specialist, Certified Auditory Verbal Therapist in Burlington Ontario at ErinoakKids, Centre for Treatment and Development in the Infant Hearing Program. She is a member of the College of Speech-Language Pathologist and Audiologists of Ontario as well as the Alexander Graham Bell Association. 

She has over 20 years of experience working directly with young children and their families.  She has been involved in creating the clinical care pathways for children with permanent hearing loss, developing mentoring programs for AVT/auditory skills intervention and development of the Central West Infant Hearing Program’s Auditory Verbal Therapy Parent Education and Training Series.  She has provided many years of clinical mentorship for new S-LP graduates and has mentored professionals towards obtaining their LSLS Certification in Auditory Verbal Therapy.

Maria Emilia (Mila) de Melo, S-LP, Aud(C), Reg. CASLPO, LSLS Cert. AVT, is a Speech-Language Pathologist (S-LP), Audiologist, & Listening and Spoken Language Certified Auditory-Verbal Therapist. Mila has worked with infants & children who are deaf and hard of hearing & their families since 1992. In her work with the Toronto Infant Hearing Program, since 2007, she has been the Lead S-LP, providing family-centred therapy services to infants & young children diagnosed with permanent hearing loss.

Jane Peters, LSLS Cert. AVEd, presents workshops to support Itinerant teachers of children who are Deaf and hard of hearing, and has worked with the developers of the MVL/GRMMR programme. She mentors teachers and families to ensure children who are Deaf and hard of hearing are appropriately accommodated in their school setting, and works one on one with families who have chosen an auditory/oral, technology approach for their child.

  • Try to arrive a few minutes early to log on and get settled in. Cozy up with your favourite cup of tea and some pen and paper in case you would like to take some notes.
